Education Director Job Description

We are seeking an Education Director to join our team. The Education Director is responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of a stimulating program and curriculum that promotes the social, emotional, and physical development of each child enrolled in our program. The development of these activities within the program and/or curriculum must align with the New York State Early Learning Guidelines (ELG), the New York State Prekindergarten Foundation for the Common Core (PKFCC), and/or the New York State Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English Language Arts and Mathematics.
Responsibilities and Duties

Ensure adaquet supervision of children to maintain the overall health, safety, and well-being of each child in our care.

Discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and assistants in order to coordinate instructional efforts.

Maintain records on each child’s attendance, progress, and development for the purpose of planning and compliance with the ELG, PKFCC, or CCSS as assigned.

Participate in and conduct staff meetings, center activities, and staff development.

Conduct appropriate developmental screenings for children when assigned.

Review the progress of each child and developing plans to promote each child’s progress.

Develop a positive relationship with each child and promote the development of self-esteem and self-discipline.

Establish a positive professional relationship and open line of appropriate communication with each child’s family and share information about the child’s day at the center.

Plan and implement the daily program of activities based on principles of child development and in accordance with the class’ curriculum and State standards/goals.

Assist children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and reinforce learning concepts.

Report to the Director and enforce administration policies and rules governing students.

Organize and label materials and equipment.

Provide the appropriate additional physical assistance and/or lesson differentiation to students with special needs.

Update each child’s daily report using the center’s daily reporting system or logs.

Complete incident reports to notify children’s families of incidents, injuries, or illnesses that occur at the center.

Undergo ongoing training as assigned or approved by administration and/or the center Director.

Must be able to lift up to 25-30 pound children and objects.

Must be able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on floor, see, hear, speak with children to ensure children’s health and safety.

Supervise Lead, Assistant, and Floater teachers that are working in the classrooms.

Supervise other Teachers in the development and implementation of their curriculum.

Report to the Owner on the progress of the curriculum development and implementation in all programs.
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field required.

NYS Certification for Early Childhood Education required.

Minimum one year of child care experience required.

Must demonstrate experience and interest in working with young children, parents, and with a team of educators.

Must have effective, appropriate, and strong communication skills (orally and written).

Must be able to speak, read, and write fluently in English. Bilingual (Spanish and English) is a plus.

Starting salary: $58,500 - $64,000 annually
