Our Roosevelt center was the first Academic Explorers location, proudly opening in March 2017 as part of our mission to provide exceptional early childhood education on Long Island. Over the years, we’ve built a strong reputation and lasting partnership with the Roosevelt Union Free School District, serving as a trusted Nassau County UPK provider for local families.
Through this collaboration, we offer free Universal Pre-K (UPK) programs for three- and four-year-old children in Roosevelt, NY, giving young learners the opportunity to develop a love for learning in a structured, nurturing environment. In addition to our UPK classrooms, our Roosevelt child care center provides high-quality infant, toddler, and preschool programs, each guided by The Creative Curriculum® to support social, emotional, and academic growth.
For families seeking care beyond the school day, we also offer after-school programs and summer camp options for school-age children in kindergarten through grade 6. About the director
With her A.A. degree in early childhood education and her B.A. degree in psychology, Ms. Alicia combines her education with over a decade of experience and is a highly skilled child care center director. She has had many years of experience as a classroom teacher before moving into administration. Ms. Alicia sets a great example of what it means to be a dedicated early childhood educator.

Is Academic Explorers a licensed child care provider?
Yes, our Roosevelt day care center is fully licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS). We strictly adhere to all state regulations regarding safety, staffing ratios, and facility cleanliness.
What are the hours of operation?
To support working families with young children in Roosevelt, our child care center is open for extended hours during the school year and full days in the summer. September - June: 6:30am - 6:30pm July & August: 7:30am - 5:30pm
What curriculum do you use at Academic Explorers?
We use The Creative Curriculum®, a research-based approach that focuses on project-based learning and discovery. At Academic Explorers, our teachers tailor this curriculum to meet the developmental milestones of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and pre-k students. To support kindergarten readiness, we also implement Scholastic's PreK On My Way in our pre-k class for students graduating and heading to kindergarten next September.
Do you accept DSS or any other child care assistance subsidy programs?

Does Academic Explorers offer free Universal Pre-K (UPK) in Roosevelt?
Yes! Academic Explorers is an approved community provider for the Roosevelt Union Free School District (RUFSD) Universal Pre-K (UPK) program. We offer state-funded, free Pre-K seats at our Roosevelt center located at 18 Whitehouse Avenue. Age Eligibility: To qualify for the free UPK program, your child must be a resident of the Roosevelt school district and turn 3 years old on or before December 1st of the current school year. What is Included: Our UPK program provides high-quality early childhood education led by certified teachers, utilizing PreK On My Way, a Scholastic curriculum, to prepare your child academically for kindergarten.
Where is Academic Explorers located in Roosevelt?
Our Roosevelt child care center is located on Whitehouse Avenue right in the heart of the community. We are easily accessible for local families and commuting parents alike. From the Southern State Parkway: Take Exit 21 (Nassau Road/Greenwich Street) south. Head down Nassau Road and make a left onto Whitehouse Avenue. We are just a few blocks down on your left. We are located just a 3-minute drive from the Roosevelt Public Library and less than a mile from Roosevelt High School, making morning drop-offs seamless for families with older children in the district. Our central location offers a quick, stress-free detour for parents traveling between Hempstead, Freeport, and Uniondale.
